Diana Barran is the founder and Chief Executive of SafeLives, a national charity established in 2005 dedicated to ending domestic abuse. Previously called Co-ordinated Action Against Domestic Abuse (Caada), SafeLives chose its new name to reflects its mission, to make sure all families are safe.
After a career in investment banking both in London and Paris, Diana founded Barran and Partners, one of the first European Hedge Funds in 1993. In 2002, she became donor adviser and head of grant development for New Philanthropy Capital and co-authored a guide to the domestic violence sector for donors and philanthropists.
As well as being a trustee of Comic Relief, Diana is Chairman of the Henry Smith Charity. She received the Beacon Prize for England in November 2007 and an MBE in 2011 for her work addressing domestic violence. She is married with 4 lovely children.
